John Fritchey: An Introduction

Born on March 2, 1964 at an Air Force Base (Barksdale) in Bossier City, Louisiana, John Fritchey is the son of a mother who was an immigrant from Oujda (Moroccan) and a veteran father from Vietnam.

John Fritchey shifted to Chicago along with his mother after leaving his home for three generations of his family (in Olney, Illinois) and attended a school of grammar and a high school at The Latin School of Chicago. His parents had to go through a divorced, to say precisely, his mother divorced his father and married Sidney Swibel, nouveau-rich who were a brother of real-estate magnate and the then chairman of the Chicago Housing Authority.
After studying up to his graduation and obtaining his bachelor’s degree in 1986 (Economy) from the University of Michigan, John went on to get his law degree from Northwestern University in 1989. After that, John worked at the post of Illinois Assistant Attorney General from the period 1989-1991.

Later in 1992, John got married to his wife Karen Banks, niece to William Banks, a Chicago Alderman, a long-term chairman of Chicago City Council’s Committee (zoning).
These days John lives with his own family in the DePaul neighborhood, not far from the place (just three blocks) where his grandmother used to run a family restaurant.
